Elysium Passes Connectathon Tests for IHE Framework
Messages PIX and PDQ
Mountain View, February 20, 2007 Axolotl Corp., the
leading provider of RHIO software and services, has added IHE PIX
and PDQ interoperability standards to its already robust healthcare
information exchange (HIE) services. Adding IHE PIX and PDQ enables
3rd party applications such as EMRs and clinical information systems
to query Elysium remotely for patient demographics and identifier
cross references, and to schedule updates to their systems of patient
demographic and identifier information.
Being PIX compliant (Patient Identifier Cross Reference Manager)
means that in any RHIO or HIE, Elysium can serve as the cross-reference
for multiple patient identifiers. The ability to store multiple patient
ID/facility pairs of information and make those accessible to the
HIE is an essential component that every Elysium enabled RHIO gets
with the Elysium framework.
Being PDQ compliant (Patient Demographics Query) means that Elysium
can be the patient demographics supplier for the RHIO. Patient demographics
and identifiers can be passed between Elysium and disparate 3rd party
applications for the purposes of information exchange. Any trusted
participant in the exchange is able to search the Elysium Patient
Index remotely and retrieve complete patient demographic data for
every match found.
"Elysium has always used standards-based messaging, vocabularies
and information exchange while adapting to the current capabilities
of the exchange participants," says Axolotl CEO Ray Scott. "Passing
the IHE PIX and PDQ tests reassures not only our current customers,
but all prospective RHIOs that Elysium can adopt and adapt to any
standards or exchange methodologies that can be supported by the stakeholders
in the exchange. Our engineering team is vigilant in monitoring the
evolution of standards and incorporating new standards into Elysium.
We are proud to see the work that was done by our team at the Connectathon
in Chicago."
The IHE PDQ adds yet another deployment option to Elysium's flexible
and broad-ranging technology, enabling Axolotl to provide both a business
and technical solution that meets the requirements of emerging HIEs
and RHIOs. Axolotl passed the testing for the IHE PIX and PDQ at a
recent Connectathon held in Chicago. Testing included meeting the
IHE security requirements for the Elysium server that hosts the Patient
Identity Cross Reference Manager and the ability to audit all Private
Health Information (PHI) transactions. Axolotl will also participate
in the annual Interoperability Showcase held in conjunction with the
HIMSS 2007 convention and trade show in New Orleans.
IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and the industry
to improve the way computer systems in healthcare, share information.
IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as
DICOM and HL7 to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal
patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate
with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care
providers to use information more effectively.
