HEAL NY Phase One Winner Establishes a HIE
with Electronic Prescribing and Diagnostic Data Exchange for Western
New York
Mountain View, CA, October 10, 2007 HealtheLink,
the Western New York Clinical Information Exchange, announced
today the selection of Axolotl Corp. to deploy and maintain a
secure and reliable infrastructure for the timely and accurate
electronic exchange of clinical information among healthcare providers,
insurers and other medical professionals. HealtheLink will be
utilizing Axolotl's Elysium hybrid federated solution to
connect community healthcare participants and provide an electronic
system for real-time sharing of clinical information among healthcare
professionals.
"Its all about improving the quality of healthcare for the
people of Western New York," said Dan Porreca, executive
director of HealtheLink. "Our selection committee had a thorough
selection process - to find the best solution that would promote
collaboration, limit duplication, control healthcare costs and
improve the delivery of services, clinical outcomes and patient
safety. Given these diverse needs in addition to linking multiple
EMRs, Axolotl's vast experience in health information exchange,
and proven success in many other communities made them the clear
choice."
HealtheLink is a not-for-profit organization focused on clinical
initiatives, it has seven charter members, comprising the four
major health systems and hospitals and three health plans. Partial
funding is also provided by the New York State's HEAL NY program.
This Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) will include
over 10 hospitals and health systems, three health plans, public
health and over 1,000 physicians.
Using Axolotl's community-wide Master Patient Index (MPI) to
identify all patients, providers in Buffalo and surrounding communities
will have the ability to access laboratory reports, radiology
reports/eImaging, medication history, allergies and other important
patient information across the region, via a secure web application.
Using Clinical Messaging TM patient data will be delivered directly
to physicians EMR's. Physicians will also use Axolotl's integrated
e-prescribing solution, with connectivity to SureScripts and RXHub
networks for prescriptions, renewals, formulary and eligibility
data.
"Axolotl is delighted to partner with HealtheLink, providing
the technology and professional services to connect their healthcare
community and improve patient care outcomes," said Ray Scott,
CEO of Axolotl. "The HealtheLink stakeholders have shown
a strong sense of community and leadership. We are excited to
help them reach their goals as we have in our other communities."
