HEAL NY grantee to implement regional Health
Information Exchange
San Jose, CA, April 1, 2008 Elmhurst and Queens
Hospital Centers, members of the New York City Health and Hospitals
Corporation, announced the selection of Axolotl Corp. to implement
a regional health information exchange. With a commitment to delivering
the highest quality of patient care, Elmhurst and Queens Hospital
Centers will utilize Axolotl's advanced Elysium® technology
to connect community healthcare participants and provide an electronic
system for real-time delivery and sharing of clinical information
among healthcare professionals.
"Elmhurst Hospital Center is dedicated to building a superior
healthcare organization with a far-reaching vision. Axolotl's
HIE was selected after careful evaluation of the alternatives,"
said Chris Constantino, Executive Director of Elmhurst Hospital
Center. "We're excited to incorporate this market-leading
technology as the health information exchange component of our
future vision. We believe that health information exchange will
benefit both professionals and patients in our community by creating
real opportunities to improve healthcare quality and safety."
Using Axolotl's community-wide Patient Index to ensure correct
identification of all patients, providers in Queens will have
the ability to access laboratory reports, radiology reports/eImaging,
medication history, allergies and other important patient information
across the region, via a secure web application. As well as connecting
to ambulatory care Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, data
will be available through Axolotl's Virtual Health Record and
its EMR-Lite product. Physicians will also use Axolotl's integrated
e-prescribing solution, with connectivity to SureScripts and RxHub
networks for prescriptions, renewals, formulary and eligibility
data.
"Axolotl is delighted to partner with Elmhurst and Queens
Hospital Centers, providing the technology and professional services
to connect their healthcare community and improve patient care
outcomes," said Ray Scott, CEO of Axolotl. "These hospitals
have shown a strong sense of community and leadership - with Axolotl's
proven technology and expertise in connecting communities, we
will be building on that leadership to provide full connectivity
to all regional participants over the next 3 years."
