San Jose, CA June 12, 2009 - The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT®) announced the members of its Health Information Exchange (HIE) Work Group for 2009-10. Composed of twenty selected members, the group will develop the criteria and inspection process for certifying the HIEs over which patient information is securely shared.
Nick Radov, director of research and development for Axolotl Corp. was selected to participate and serve on the HIE Work Group. Recognized for his expertise in HIE, Radov brings over twelve years of direct experience and knowledge to the HIE Work Group. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in leading Axolotl's product conformance testing for Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles, the National Health Infrastructure Network (NHIN 1) project for the U.S. Health and Human Services Department, and representing the company to the HL7 standards organization, amongst leading other implementations and systems architecture platforms.
Along with Radov's participation, two of Axolotl's customers were chosen -Robert C Steffel, President & CEO of Greater Cincinnati HealthBridge, Inc. as co-chair and Deborah Bass, President & CEO of Bass & Associates, Inc, and Interim Executive Director of the Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII). The CCHIT Work Group members are selected by the Commission for their individual expertise and stakeholder representation.
"This year more than 600 people volunteered - more than twice last year's number - demonstrating the tremendous interest and commitment of the health care community to our efforts as an important part of the larger initiative to accelerate adoption and meaningful use of health IT," said Mark Leavitt, M.D., Ph.D., Commission chair. "This year will bring dramatic challenges and changes, and we are grateful so many people are prepared to contribute their time and expertise to address them."
"We believe Nick's appointment to CCHIT's HIE Work Group further demonstrates Axolotl's leadership in the HIE market and the company's dedication to improving patient care with the most advanced solutions for electronic exchange and distribution of health information," said Ray Scott, CEO of Axolotl Corp. "We look forward to reviewing and publicly commenting on the HIE Work Group's development of the criteria and testing to drive and accelerate the adoption of HIE."
