Hospitals play a vital role in accelerating physician adoption of EMRs and their qualification for ARRA funding. By providing the required HIE within the ARRA timeframe, hospitals will serve as an important magnet for physicians, enabling them to qualify for the front loaded ARRA incentive payments. In recognition of a hospitals leadership role, the ARRA program provides an incentive of $2-8 million for EMR/HIE implementation.
