"N.Y. RHIO Picks Axolotl"
The Interboro Regional Health Information Exchange will implement technology from Axolotl
Corp., San Jose, Calif., to facilitate data exchange among providers in the Queens area of
New York City.
The RHIO will use the vendor's Elysium Community Virtual Health Record and EMR –
Lite applications to enable participating physicians to access patient lab reports, radiology
reports, medication history, allergies and other clinical data via a secure Web application.
It also will use the vendor's Patient Index to ensure correct identification of all patients.
The deal will also enable providers to use Axolotl's electronic prescribing software.
Elmhurst Hospital Center and Queens Hospital Center are spearheading the development of the
RHIO. Other participating organizations are New York Hospital Queens, Woodhull Medical and Mental
Health Center, HHC Health and Home Care center and several payers. The organization recently
received a $7.7 million grant from the state of New York to support interoperable health I.T. |
