Axolotl's Elysium solutions manage
the creation, transformation, distribution, exchange, storage,
retrieval, and analysis of patient health care data.
Elysium has an open, extensible architecture and can
be deployed in a combination of product modules that best
suits the needs of each individual customer. Examples of such
customers are Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs),
hospitals, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), reference
laboratories, physicians, payers, public health departments
or any mix of these. Elysium is web-based and deployment
requires only the use of standard web-browsers.

Community Virtual Health Record
(VHR) assembles information, on demand, from
all connected healthcare systems to enable clinicians
to view a patient's complete electronic health record.
Viewed through a standard browser, data is presented in
a logical, chart-like manner and includes admission records,
discharge summaries, visit records, medication history,
problem lists, allergies, current eligibility information,
and the results of all tests and exams ordered by clinicians.

Elysium
EMR Lite provides physician practices
with an electronic medical record system with integrated
workflow management. It includes:
- Clinical
Messaging
Results and patient data automatically populate personal
clinical inboxes. Physicians and office staff manage
their inboxes interactively - forwarding reports to
consulting physicians, writing prescriptions, ordering
lab tests, and optionally queuing data to print in
the medical records department.
Physicians and staff use secure communication to collaborate
with each other and their health care partners. Physician
consults, patient memos, referrals, authorization
requests etc. are delivered electronically to the
clinical inbox of recipients or to EMR systems, or
by fax to non-automated practices.
- E-Prescribing
Elysium prescription management focuses on
the workflow surrounding the creation of prescriptions,
refills, and renewals, as well as providing automated
delivery to pharmacies through the SureScripts network
or by fax.
- Workflow
Management
Physicians interact directly with Elysium,
electronically managing all incoming data and eliminating
the need to pull charts. They can create orders, sign
documents and delegate tasks to assistants and to
office staff.
Customized forms can be created to capture clinical
encounter information. Results stored in one practices'
EMR Lite can be forwarded to another practices' EMR
Lite for consultation. Customized authorization and
referral forms can be created to IPA or payer requirements.

Signature
Physicians improve turn around time on hospital reports
using Elysium e-signature. For Hospital Information
Management (HIM) departments, signed reports are returned
directly into medical records chart completion applications
or hospital EHR systems.
- Electronic
Ordering
From their web-based desktop, physicians and staff
use intelligent, intuitive ordering forms to place
lab and radiology orders with their supplier of choice.
For each supplier, Elysium provides a compendium
of tests, one or more intelligent order forms and
automatic printing of Advanced Beneficiary Notices.
- Care
Management
Using configurable patient selection criteria, such
as age and gender, and test data criteria (e.g. A1C
> 7.0), reports for chronic disease monitoring
can easily be created and updated to look at information
across the physician practice..
- Public
Health
Public Health Reporting of communicable diseases by
physicians is improved as office staff complete Web-based
forms that are automatically forwarded to the appropriate
Health Department staff.
Required abnormal lab data is delivered automatically
to public health officials allowing them to immediately
alert providers regarding urgent public health issues
and enabling them to identify trends - data can be
de-identified as needed to ensure privacy.

Transcription Management System is a comprehensive
transcription management application that provides complete
control over the entire transcription process. Hospital
and clinics can view the status of all outstanding dictations
and transcribed reports in real-time. They can view and
make necessary changes to reports, monitor cost of in-house
or outsourced transcription, automate printing and distribution
to dictating physicians and track delinquent dictations
and reports on-line. |
| Elysium
EdgeServer consolidates reports from all
departments in a single hospital, and automates report
delivery to affiliated physicians. Results can be transmitted
directly into ambulatory care EMRs, sent by fax, or automatically
printed. Optionally, Elysium EdgeServer builds
an internal repository of transmitted data for subsequent
query by internal and appropriately authorized external
personnel. *Available for Healthcare Systems in order
to provide immediate access to patient information when
and where it is needed, without requiring change to the
hospitals internal systems. |

How
Elysium HIE Works
Elysium HIE functionality is provided through three product
layers: Framework, Gateways, and Presentation Services - as
seen above, Elysium Community Virtual Health Record (VHR)
and Elysium EMR Lite. |
Framework:
The framework layer includes the following:
- Record Locator
The Elysium Master Patient Index (MPI) is the
basis of a Record Locator Service (RLS), which is
able to find patient-related data across multiple
sources. Reliable patient identification provides
the ability for users to query for a patient's complete
Virtual Health Record (VHR) when parts of the continuum
of care record are scattered across the community.
- Entity Registration
All users of the system must be identified. Entity
registration provides the mechanism by which entities
and users are made known to Elysium as well
as authenticated and authorized for use of all functions.
This feature is enabled through the Elysium
Directory. The Elysium Directory
identifies each user of Elysium uniquely to
the network, including job role, title, addresses,
and the EMR application information for distribution
and collaboration. Entity Registration also provides
for administration of user accounts, complete auditing
and reporting of entity and user activities.
- Security
VPNs and SSL protect private health information as
it is exchanged between hospitals, labs, third-party
EMRs, and Elysium. Its robust role-based security
system with configurable access controls and enhanced
reporting ensures that Elysium users can meet
the requirements of HIPAA and their local privacy
regulations.
- Elysium
Interoperability Hub (I-Hub)
The Elysium I-Hub takes clinical data
in a wide array of formats, converts that data into
a standard format, preserving the original clinical
content, and presents that data to any number of third-party
EMR systems.

Gateways:
Elysium gateway layer includes the technology needed
to connect Elysium to other systems for information
exchange.
- Elysium EdgeServer
The Elysium EdgeServer provides a gateway
between Elysium and hospital, lab, and radiology
information systems as well as EMR applications outside
the Elysium network. Functions within the EdgeServer
insulate entity operational systems from intrusion,
respond to external queries, and transform data into
standard formats for delivery into the Elysium
network.
- Real-time/web-services connections
Web-service queries and responses are supported in
Elysium gateway components.
